Deanship of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies

I am a professor of Environmental Sciences and Resources Management at the Department of Earth and Environmental SciencesI joined Yarmouk University in Feb. 2009 following my graduation from University of Nevada, Reno, USA in Dec. 2008 with a Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Health. Prior to receiving my Ph.D degree, I earned a master's degree in Civil Engineering-Environmental Engineering from Technical University Hamburg-Harburg (TUHH), Germany in 2002.

Being a graduate of both American and German universities, I especially possess solid practical and technical knowledge in the field of environmental science, health and management. With additional nine years at Yarmouk University and other universities in Jordan, I developed a rich teaching experience in graduate and undergraduate courses and advanced research experience.

I have a proven track record in research with over 27 articles (largely published in ISI journals) (from 2009-2018, with an average of 3 articles per year) in interdisciplinary environmental topics.

In addition to my publications, my recent patent entitled "Nitrogen Fixation by Titanium Dioxide", was successfully issued in 2015 (U.S. Patent No. 9,029,282). This patent has an important implication for generating nitrate (fertilizer) by utilizing heat and/or sunlight and recyclable TiO2 semiconductor, in a sustainable manner.

I directed the UNESCO Chair for Desert Studies and Desertification Control and the Dept. of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Yarmouk University and blended my academic expertise with additional administrative and unique research experiences. I also served as a member of the Climate Change Thematic Research Group of the National Climate Change Committee in Jordan.

This website contains a brief outline of my current research, publicationsacademic profile, and the courses I teach.
