Salem Harahsheh joined the Department of Travel & Tourism in the Faculty of
Tourism & Hotel Management/ Yarmouk University in 25 November 2010 after
finishing his PhD from Bournemouth University, where he developed a robust
piece of research on destination image as perceived by British and Swedish
tourists before and after visiting Jordan and the implication of marketing the
country as a tourism destination. He contributed to the literature of
destination image by researching the influence of religious beliefs in the
formation of that image. In addition, he contributed to the methodology of
tracking the image of the destination Jordan pre- and post-visitation as
perceived by two different nationalities. Prior to joining Yarmouk University,
Dr. Harahsheh worked as director of tourism in Um el-Jimal in the District of
al-Mafraq. He worked one year in the Department of History/ Tour Guidance Track
at the University of Sharjah, UAE 2013-2014.
since September 2014, Dr. Harahsheh is assuming the post of Chair of the
Department of Travel & Tourism in the Faculty of Tourism & Hotel
