Description

Env. 101B - Environment Sciences (101_B)  (3 credit hrs.)

Introduction to the environment. The atmosphere, hydrosphere, pedosphere, lithosphere and biosphere.  Natural ecosystems, biotic and abiotic components.  Ecological principles. The flow of energy in the ecosystem.  Food chains and food webs.  Biological concentrations of chemicals in food chains and webs.

Population growth, the environment and human health, food energy, land use management, non-renewable resources.  Water, air and sources of pollution. Energy sources and uses.
